just leah being leah. books and ginger beer in the park during her last visit.
leah's first roll
This weekend on film.
Leah finished shooting her first roll of film while we were visiting Asheville this weekend. With all the school I've been busy with, it was as good as ever to have a mom to make homemade biscuits for breakfast again, a dad to give me bedtime back scratches again, and a sister to be silly with again.
'twas a happy thanksgiving
Played with kitties, neighborhood doggies, and hay bails at Mom Mom's house. Played scrabble and ate dessert for breakfast at Granddaddy's. Ate pizza and played Wii tennis at Lauren and Nathan's...and tried to take a group picture. We met our newborn nephew and played with our two year old neice on the way home too.
It was a well rounded trip. Glad to be home. Only a little bit more school until I can knit, bake, and read my life away. That is something to be thankful for.
sister time
My big sister Lauren and her bf Nathan came to town last week. Having Lauren in town is a wonderful wake-up-to-the-smell-of-coffee-and-bacon kind of time. Because she wakes up and makes coffee and bacon. She is the best big sister ever.
P.S. Leah had a birthday! Happy 17 you beautiful lady!
note
We're going off to have some family time for Labor Day weekend!!
Hope everyone has some fun last days of summer
(unless you are in Savannah. Then you know that you still have months of it left).
...
This sweet and silly note is from sister Leah a long time ago. Wish it was dated. Wish I knew where I was apparently going. Glad Leah gave me permission to sleep with her bear.
happy birthday sister!
Lauren,
You are so fun, creative, and adventurous.
I miss your amazing cooking and being silly with you.
When you come to Savannah we will find a tree to climb.

family. minus lauren.
They came to help us move last weekend (which was beyond helpful. Not sure how it would have gotten done without them.). When we weren't hauling furniture up and down three flights of stairs, we were having al fresco dinners, watching Up, eating boiled peanuts (and frozen yogurt, and krispy kreme, and popcorn, and pumpkin bread...) and squealing with excitement about the new place.
Miss 'em already. Like I always do!
Last picture: Favorite. A candid shot Jeff took in between the posing. Leah, I miss your face.
nostalgia
I loved my childhood. If you asked me what things make a childhood great, I would list the following (all major parts of my early years):
-Porches. Preferably with wooden porch swings and some animals running around.
-Trees. A kid needs a good climbing tree where they can pretend, read, giggle, and spy on or surprise the neighbors.
-Bicycles. Training wheels, denim jumpers, and bare feet optional.
-Books. Some of my favorite feelings of nostalgia come from memories of reading (in a tree, before bed, in the pool, on the porch, in the car...if you know someone who is under 13, please go make them read Nancy Drew and the Babysitter's Club. Please.)
-Siblings. None of these things would have been as good without my sisters.
the best of times
Daytime adventures, nighttime cooking + movie watching. I could get used to this. Leah, please move to Savannah? We have made dinner every night together, watched a ton of movies, walked all over this beautiful city, done more blanket laying than usual, eaten lots of good things, and accidentally gotten tans.
p.s. I could start a weekly segment titled "Leah drinking from bottles" with all the pictures I have of this happening.
leah's arrival
Leah and Jeff with some of the dead jellies that washed up all over the beach. Parents being in love. Getting to spend some time with the people who know me best.
My parents drove to Savannah over the weekend to drop Leah here for her spring break. We are cramming all of our favorite sister activities into a week. Fun fun fun!

guess which one is me?
Juice drinking is still serious business
My hair is still an unruly mess
Bench sitting with my family is still fun
Some things never change.
