Still goodbye-ing...Jeff and I are both a little bit more excited for our new home than we are sad to leave this one. So that is good. But the pictures of the quiet bits of our life here will always make me feel something, I think. Something that was good while it lasted even though we knew it wouldn't last forever.

Our apartment will be vacant by the end of this week and there is much to do before then. Over the weekend some people came into our home and bought things from us that will now start new lives in new places. I liked it when I saw an older lady fall in love with a chair I've had since I lived in my first home, and another who bought my big bag of yarn for her mother who knits. I liked it when two guys went through our bookshelf and bought big stacks of reading material we used in school. I liked it when the one person with feet my size bought my old beat up converse.

Soon we will be the ones at yard sales, digging through other people's treasures to make our new space ours.

two things

Old Chloé Family 32

One: We're leaving for my family's beach house tomorrow! I can't wait to see everyone's faces and be near water and eat food prepared by someone else's loving hands.

Two: Lately, we've been staying up til the middle of the night talking, making homemade spaghetti after church while pretending it's fall, watching lots of movies on the floor of our cozy apartment, and forgetting to take pictures of any of it, all with friends.

school madness...
lots of waiting in lines and making phone calls and filling out forms.
to combat...
lots of sewing and apartment sprucing and eating homemade mac+cheese & stew.

the best, most unexpected saturday ever

Over the past few months, I have spent hours and days stalking craigslist, emailing about a thousand people, memorizing just about all the street names in Savannah, and looking at tons of pictures in an effort to find the perfect apartment for us.

I happened to email yet another property owner from my phone today while Jeff and I were walking downtown. They called me back, we went to look at it...yada yada yada...we signed a lease about three hours later.

Our apartment will be one block away from my favorite place in Savannah. Words cannot describe how excited I am. I really have no words. June can't come soon enough!
